Výsledky DNA na Glaukom / results DNA Glaucoma

Přišly nám výsledky z Genomie na detekci mutace c.590G>A OLFML3 genu související s goniodysgenesis a glaukom u border kólií. Tento test je úplně nový a je zatím jen pár psů na světě, kteří se nechali testovat. I z toho důvodu, že vím o jednom výskytu glaucomu v příbuzenstvu otce Čika, jsem se ho rozhodla otestovat také.
        Quickstep Dancer z Černobílých je P/N (přenašeč)
Znamená to, že je nositelem genu pro jednu z predispozic glaukomu - Čiko sám je zdravý a glaukom nemá, pouze predispozici a jedině postižený jedinec, může vyvinout tuto formu glaukomu, nikoliv přenašeč. Přesto doporučuji Čikovo potomkům, nechte se na predispozice ke glaucomu otestovat také, má to smysl – s jasnými genetickými testy se dá dále pracovat, jak se již ukázalo mnohokrát v minulosti - není důvod vyřazovat z chovu přenašeče, jen musíme postupovat opatrně při výběru chovného páru. Doufám, že každý majitel i s jiným výsledkem než N/N bude sdílet informace. Informace by měla sloužit pro všechny co se o plemeno zajímají – nejen pro krásná písmenka na krycím letáčku.

We have received the results from Genomia Detection of c.590G>A mutation in OLFML3 gene related with Goniodysgenesis and Glaucoma in Border Collies. This test is new and there are just a few dogs in the world who have been tested. Also because I know about one dog in Chico's father pedigree affected by glaucoma, I decided to do the test too.

It means, he carries the gen for one of the predispositions to glaucoma. Chico personally is healthy and he doesn't have glaucoma, he doesn't even carry glaucoma, only the predisposition, and only affected dog can develop this form of glaucoma, not a carrier. I would like to recommend to all Chicos offsprings to do the DNA test too, especially the ones used for breeding. It has a sense - with the results we can work, as the history showed many times already. There is no reason to exclude carriers from breeding, we just need to be carefull in choosing the couple. I hope, that every owner with another result than N/N will share the information. It is a prove who do it for the breed, and who just for money.
